ASSIGNMENT FOR WEDNESDAY:
Blog about what you liked and did not like about student presentations; avoid naming names; use the argument formulation: "claim + reasons". 100 words
Look at:
- how keenly did the students analyze the ethos/logos/pathos of the advertisemnet;
- how persuasive was their analysis - did you "buy it"? why or why not?
- how well did they contextualize the ad - where it appeared, who is the target audience, who/what is the ethos (brands can have an ethos; see Oprah)
- how well did they follow the assignment prompts in terms of tone, style, dominant strategy
- was there interpretation of the language itself and the actual visuals used (medium of message)? how good was the analysis? why do you think so/not think so?
